AASU President’s Welcome Message – Back to School 2025
Dear AASU Members,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I hope each of you had a restful and restorative summer. As we begin another year of leading with heart, purpose, and professionalism, I want to thank you for the incredible work you do every day to support students, staff, and families across our district.
Our collective strength as school administrators is what drives positive change. Whether you are returning to a familiar role or stepping into a new one, know that AASU stands with you—as your advocate, your partner, and your support system.
To kick off the year in good spirits, I invite you to our AASU Back to School Social on Wednesday, August 6, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Kalaveras on 3rd Avenue. Come connect with colleagues, welcome new members, and enjoy some food and fellowship before the year gets into full swing.

AASU BACK TO SCHOOL HAPPY HOUR! AUGUST 6 FROM 4:00 TO 7:00PM
Meet your union colleagues at Kalaveras, 340 Third Avenue, Chula Vista to celebrate the beginning of a new school year! AASU will provide each member with one drink ticket and two tickets to order Happy Hour appetizers of your choice. This is a social only – no meeting. Come and join your colleagues for a fun time! Door prizes will be given away at 5:45pm. Must be present to win! There will also be a 50/50 drawing at 5:45 pm – winner takes half of the money and the other half funds our AASU scholarship program! Cash or debit/credit card will be accepted for 50/50 tickets.
No need to RSVP for this event. Just show up! If you would like to bring a guest, the cost for the guest is $30 per person which includes the drink ticket and two appetizers of their choice. The guest fee can be paid at the event via cash or debit/credit card.

AASU WAS REPRESENTED AT THE TRIENNIEL AMERICAN FEDERATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS CONVENTION JULY 24-27
Thank you to AASU Board Member, Sasha Scott, for representing AASU at the AFSA Triennial Convention held July 24-27. Sasha was the delegate for AASU and voted on all matters brought forth at the convention as well as attended sessions on collective bargaining and other union related issues. The convention was relevant and Sasha returned with many takeaways. Additionally, UASC/AASU Executive Director, Donis Coronel, was elected as the Executive Vice President of AFSA which is a three-year term. We are proud to have Donis representing us all locally and now at the international level.
BARGAINING
Bargaining will resume in August with three dates scheduled. After each session, a bargaining update will be sent via e-mail to the membership. Be sure you are checking your personal email regularly.
