Dear AASU Members:

As we enter the final stretch of another school year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to supporting students, staff, and one another throughout the year. The work of school administrators is demanding, often behind the scenes, and constantly evolving — yet this group continues to lead with resilience, compassion, and strength.

As we finish the year strong, I also want to remind you that AASU remains committed to standing beside our members. Your union is here to support, advocate, and ensure your voices continue to be heard as we move forward together.

Please join us for our AASU End of the Year Celebration on Thursday, June 12 at 4:00 p.m. at Smoke & Glory BBQ. This will be an opportunity to relax, connect, celebrate the year, and enjoy time together before summer begins.

WHAT DOES AASU DO FOR ME?

• AASU bargained our first ever collective bargaining agreement.
• AASU has a voice on the district’s health benefits committee which makes important decisions about the AASU benefits plan.
• AASU has provided representation for 21 AASU members in good standing since August 2025. These are cases where a member has a complaint filed against them, disciplinary matters, ADA accommodation processes, evaluation meetings, March 15 notification meetings and more. In four cases, a referral was made to the AASU attorney to assist. While we cannot share confidential specifics of each case, we can share that each AASU member received professional representation and did not go through the process alone.
• AASU’s support of a member resulted in a settlement where a member will be compensated $30,000 in salary they were entitled to receive.

AASU END OF THE YEAR PARTY! DON’T MISS OUT! Join your AASU colleagues for our annual end of the year party!  Friday, June 12 from 4:00-7:00pm at Smoke & Glory BBQ at 330 F St., Chula Vista. Enjoy visiting with colleagues, supporting our scholarship fund by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets (cash or debit/credit), heavy appetizers, two drink tickets, chances at door prizes, and more!  The event is FREE for all AASU Members in Good Standing. If you wish to bring a spouse/partner/colleague, the cost for your guest is $25 per person.   RSVP's must be made by JUNE 4 and payment for guests will be collected at the event in cash or by debit/credit card. Please note that if you RSVP and do not cancel by 6/4 or are a "no show" then you will be invoiced $25 for the food as we have to place the food order in advance. This also applies to guests.
