LAPA Report - May 2026

LAPA Report: This week, the San Diego County Registrar of Voters mailed ballots to all registered voters for the June 2, 2026, elections. UASC interviewed candidates for our state legislature and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction to determine which candidate will best represent our members' interests and is willing to continue working with UASC after they are elected. As your Union, UASC has worked with our state legislators for the past few years and has confirmed which have stayed true to their word and which have contacted us only around endorsement time. To assist our members in determining which candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, State Senator, and State Assemblymember will represent their interests, UASC has developed an endorsement list of those we recommend for your vote. Please click on our UASC Endorsement List link to view. It is UASC’s policy to only endorse State Legislature candidates that represent the district within the SDUSD, Sweetwater Union, and Chula Vista Elementary School District boundaries.

After the June elections, AASD, AASU, and AACV will each interview School Board Trustee candidates for their respective school boards in the November election.

In addition to creating our endorsement list, we continue to monitor state legislation and update its progress in our 2026 Legislative Status Report. The LAPA Committee always welcomes our members’ insights. If you become aware of legislation not listed on our  2026 Legislative Status Report, have information to share with our committee, or would like information about the committee or bills we are monitoring, please contact Government Relations Officer Jesus Montana at jesus@unitedadmin.us.
