Resolution 6 -- Health Care Security for Retired School Leaders

WHEREAS, retired school leaders have devoted their careers to leading schools, supporting students, and advancing public education; and

WHEREAS, access to affordable, comprehensive health care is essential to ensuring retirees’ dignity, quality of life, and financial security; and

WHEREAS, rising health care costs, reductions in retiree benefits, and policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels threaten the well-being of retired school leaders; and

WHEREAS, AFSA recognizes that protecting retiree health care is a vital extension of its mission to support members across all stages of their lives;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that AFSA will advocate for the preservation and expansion of affordable, high-quality health care options for all retired school leaders; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that AFSA will work to oppose any efforts that weaken or eliminate retiree health care benefits, and will seek legislative and policy solutions that strengthen retiree health care protections nationally; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that AFSA will provide information and resources to assist retirees in navigating available health care options and advocate for transparency and fairness in the administration of retiree health.
