Resolution 13 — Creating a National Retiree Chapter

WHEREAS, retired school leaders possess a lifetime of invaluable knowledge, skills and experience; and

WHEREAS, retired school leaders are vital to the future of not only the American Federation of School Administrators, but of the greater labor movement; and

WHEREAS, retired school leaders are passionate about education and labor policy, and providing their perspective enhances the voice of all school leaders when national policies are created; and

WHEREAS, retired school leaders are actively involved politically, and are a tremendous force in politics that can be strengthened further on a national level; and 

WHEREAS, school leaders, upon retirement, deserve an opportunity to remain a part of the American Federation of School Administrators, the AFL-CIO and the Alliance for Retired Americans;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Federation of School Administrators will establish a retiree chapter; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the American Federation of School Administrators retiree chapter will be open to existing retirees through their current local, or as direct members if there is no local retiree chapter where they reside.
